Trek should Allow the rider to turn on or off the lights. The flashing rear red light works great but is annoying if you are following in a group ride. We were successful in getting this function reprogrammed but it took a trip to a Trek store that had a person certified by Bosch to do the 10 second change. we love the bike and have had no issues other than the kickstand bolts keep working loose, I know, a little bit of locktite will fix it up.
