Vado 4.0 sl garmin mount?

I recently purchased a Vado 4.0 SL. While it does not include the Turbo Connect Display, a 2 piece mount was included in the package I received from the LBS. It is not a clamp on to the handlebar map and included a flattish plastic piece that the display or garmin can be mounted onto as well as a metal piece that has a hole in the center with two tabs extended horizontally.

Does anyone know if this is normally included with the 4.0 and how would it be attached to the bike. Does it somehow need to be attached to the handlebar/stem bolts?

Interesting. The Specialized literature said it came with the mount for the TCD, but mine did not have that and the LBS said it wasn’t included. I reached out to Specialized on this question but have not received an answer yet.

This is the one big problem I see with Specialized. They don’t have enough technical data available. Also, they don’t seem to realize that their ebikes are actually two wheeled computers for which updates and patches are expected and for many of us would be a fun and familiar task. (Before I retired I ran a data center test lab, so updating a bike would be pretty straightforward if I ignored the challenge of accessing the I/O ports.)

I‘ll watch to see what other answers you get and reach out to Specialized some more. My LBS isn’t likely to do anything. I’ll make believe it’s because how busy they’ve been, selling out their stock.

Here's a couple pictures of what I received - maybe your lbs can check for it. I also remember reading that the 4.0 didn't come with the TCD but did have a mount.

It looks like the metal piece screws to the bottom of the plastic piece then is wedged somewhere onto the bike. I'm not sure what the hinged piece on the plastic part is supposed to do - I'm guessing it adjusts the viewing angle.

Thanks, I’ll pay them a visit next week. I’ve learned my lesson going there on a weekend - too crowded. Even though they limit how many customers can be in the store, the lines for sales or service can be pretty long.

I received the same mount with my SL 4.0. I also bought the display from Specialized using a 15% off on-line coupon. I wanted to use the original mount that came with the bike instead one of the ones that came with the display as it is a cleaner look...more factory look.

To mount it I had to remove the end cap off the stem at the handlebar. Remove the handlebar and inset the mount piece. It snaps right in the end of the stem on top side. Then just put the handle bar and end cap back in place. After the display is mounted the metal piece is screwed on to secure the display to the mount. Finally, there is a little set bolt on the side of the mount to hold the display in place at the angle you want.

Very clean and easy. Hope I explained this well enough.

Thanks. Not near the bike right now and can't visualize it. But if this stem is the same do you mean it would set just above the handlebar behind the two top bolts of the end cap? Is the metal piece the anti-theft part described in another thread? Does it have to be used? I would normally remove my garmin after each ride to recharge.

BTW does anyone know if the Vado and Vado SL use the same stem? Can I order a longer stem from the Specialized site and it would fit an SL?

Yes it would set just above the handlebar behind the two top bolts of the end cap. I do not think the metal security attachment would need to be used but cannot confirm that without removing it.

Thanks again. I can see how it will mount there and the metal piece will keep the display from turning and being removed? Does the Specialized display have a coin type battery and doesn't need charging or replacement that often? I do have to routinely remove my garmin to recharge so I should be ok to just not use the metal piece.
