Vado 3.0 New Motor for 2020

The Vado 3.0 for 2020 has a new motor the 1.2E, it is a Class 1- Max speed is 20 miles per hour. Torque is 50 Nm, Power 415 W. The 1.2 and the 1.2S are the same motors. The price of the 2020 Vado 3.0 was reduced $550.00 from the 2019, that is the reason why. This info is not published by Specialized and most dealer do not know.

I just bought the Vado 4.0 because of the change in the 3.0 it has the 1.2 motor. I will receive it Friday.

Actually Specialized is listing two Vado 3's, one at $3,450 (MSRP before end of model discount) and the new version at $2,700, which weaker motor, is 9 speed (11-36t) vs 10 (11-40t)

As an owner of the high price model, this is annoying. Creates confusion and devalues the model.

The $3,450 is the 2019 model, the drop in price is for the class 1 motor, they should have called it 2.0 not 3.0. Also, they do not mention the motor was downgraded.

Specialized don’t tell what model year it is on their website. That’s what makes things confusing.
In the description there is however information about what motor you get with each bike.
The latest ”cheapest” 3.0 has 9 speeds as last years 2.0 so I agree - Why not call it 2.0?

Same thing occurred in the Como line: 2020 3.0 is essentially the same as 2019 2.0 Class 1 with lights, the new computer, and a $100 price increase. 2.0 model was dropped for 2020.

It would be appropriate if specialized on their web site compared all the motors they use- 1.2 - 1.2E - 1.3 - 2.1 - Torque, Power, etc.

On the Specialized site, you can tell the model year of a specific bike by looking at the “Part No. ” below the price. The fourth and fifth digits in the part number are the last two digits of the model year. For example this is the part number for my 3.0 2020 Como: “Part No. 90420-7002”

Yes the 3 has been downgraded. I have 2018 vado 3 and was looking for the same spec bike for the wife this year. We also went with the Vado 4 as its almost the same spec as mine.

Most dealers do not know the difference between the 1.2 and the 1.2E, if by chance you want to upgrade, I would explain to your dealer.

If the former it is likely to be the 2019 model, the later the 2020.

You may be confused as it shows (at least on My Computer) The 1.2 E is on the Older Vado 3 and 1.2 on the new ones . They also have Vado 6 2019 and for 2020 only thru 5 : So they just changed the system numbering is all. It's also possible that some early 2020 Frames with the light mounted higher were used on late manufactured 2019 Models :

A few weeks ago I got to ride a Dual Sport that was Class 3 : Yet based on Treks Site the dual Sport is class 1 . It was the Police Model of the Dual Sport that was class 3. So someone Made something different :

You never know with companies : This summer My wife wanted Treks New 2020 Verve 3 with Disks and 2 chain rings : According to Trek it wasn't available until late September. Yet totally by accident we were in a Trek Dealer's Shop 100 miles from where our local LBS Trek Dealer is. This place was a far bigger Dealership. They had Verve 3's that were 2020 models : 2 months before My local LBS could even order them. Now that they are available at the local place : You can tell the Blender Stem looks identical but isn't from My Wife's Bike :

Point is they make in-house little changes or do a Run of Frames that are sup[posed to be the next year but get used on the Previous years bikes because of the Time of year :

It also shows there's only 3 left in the women's 2019 Vado 3 . The Men's gives no indication of that : Appears to be Several left (Headlight locations can be altered )
