Vado 3.0 in 2.0 clothing?

About two weeks ago my LBS presented me with my new/replacement bike. There had been some warranty issues and Specialized very kindly totaled the bike and gave me a new one. I noticed right away that the new one didn't seem to cut out at 19mph like the old one did. I didn't think too much of this at first and filed it away as something to look into when I got a chance.

Coincidentally, I bought a new Vado 2.0 for my wife the following day. My LBS was going through an ownership change and my inside line on discounts was going to disappear, so it was "dealing days" for me. So I bought my wife her new bike that Saturday and the two of us rode off into the sunset. (I was and still am so excited to get to ride with her.) I noticed right away though that I could leave her in the dust if I wasn't careful. At first I attributed this to her being new and me riding so much this year, but then I remembered the bit about my motor not cutting out at 19mph.

Over the weekend I was doing some cleaning on both of out bikes and noticed a sticker that I hadn't seen before. This confirmed that the speed difference wasn't in my head.

The sticker on her bike says "Class 1. 250W. 20mph." The one on my bike says "Class 3. 250W. 28mph."

I asked my connection at my LBS about this and she said that maybe they accidentally gave me a Vado 3.0 instead of the 2.0. That sounded strange to me, so I went back to my Specialized profile and the user profile shows three bikes with the same description: "vado menvado men 2.0". (Two are mine and one is my wife's.)

I'm not sure how I got lucky with this, but I sure love the faster bike. The fastest I've been able to pedal is 27mph. When my cadence gets too fast, the bike gets to bouncy for me to safely pedal any faster. That's pretty doggone fast though!

Interesting.
Both bikes appear to be white as the Vado 2 is on Specialized’s website. Vado 3 colour is more like ”grey”.
Are gears and brakes the same on both bikes?

Everything is identical to my old bike, except it has a higher cutoff for the pedal assist. It's pretty puzzling, but I can't complain.

My contact at my LBS told me that Specialized is offering a firmware update for Vado 2.0 that will change the motor limit from 19mph to 27mph. We'll take my wife's bike in as soon as we can.
