Bought first budget ebike in March looking to upgrade already. Current commuter ebike has 500Watt rear motor, range is not good only getting 25km from full charge.

Looking to spend approx $3,500 on new bike with long range and good speed. Any suggestions appreciated.

Love my Giant Explorer E+ 2 GTX... its around your price range but its md drive with no throttle. Thats my preferred choice but might not be yours. https://www.giant-bicycles.com/ca/explore-eplus-2-gts

Thats the Canadian site so likely less expensive in the U.S.

There are a lot of options in your price range.

Is the primary use as a commuter? Paved streets? Hills?

Are you handy doing your own bike repairs, or would you rather your LBS did this for you?

If you want more range, and don't need a throttle, I'd recommend a mid-drive in that price range.

Just my experience, but a 504Wh battery on a Shimano E6100 mid drive (for example) will get over double the range of a 672Wh battery on a Bafang 500W rear hub.

It really depends on what you need in a commuter though. If you're frequently loading the bike with groceries, or do a lot of stop/start city riding, the throttle can be handy.

Thanks for all replies, commuter bike to work up and down steep hills. Allot stop/start at lights, i average 27km/hr. Commute approx 60km a week, I want bike which I can charge once a week. Currently need charge after 30km.

If you have a Specialized dealer nearby I'd suggest their Vado/Como 4 mid-drive ebikes. They are designed as commuter bikes, are in your price range, are good climbers, and have good range with their 500Wh batteries. Depending on your cycling ability they should be able to do 60km between charges.

This looks like a decent bike with a Shimano mid-drive and integrated battery for $2299 and free shipping. But the most important factor is that it’s in stock. :)
