Update Failed on Nyon gen 1

Hi all,

I recently got a used transport bike (Riese & Müller Packster 60), I think it is from 2018, with a Bosch CX and Nyon display unit. As it is new to me, I thought I should update the firmware, which currently is 2.7.5.0. I don't know if this is a 1GB or 8GB unit (how cane one tell?).
I have connected my unit to my home Wifi, as well as Bluetooth to my phone, and after doing the "Check Firmware", it says there's a new FW available.
So I connect my unit to a USB charger, and select "Update", and I can see a download progressbar for about 1 second, then I get "Update Failed Please make sure your Nyon is offboard and connected to a Wi-Fi network".
The unit says it is connected to the wifi, and signal strength is OK.

What could be the reason, and is there any other way to update the FW, like over USB or so?

Well, you could say that it is not working, since it does not upgrade.... :) Seriously though, the FW that is available might well be the last on this old device, so it does make sense to grab it now.
I don't know what the difference is between my FW and the newest though. Maybe small, but I don't like the "Update available" sign on the main screen.
Is there any release notes somewhere, perhaps?

It starts with a 2, so it is the 8GB

Using the diagnostic software. Your local bike dealer may have it.
Did you try a factory reset first?
Sometimes they have problems with the WiFi. Try factory reset and try again. If not working, leave it on the WiFi for a while before trying again. Or try another WiFi.

If its working, dont update.
This should be on the cover of the bible.
@vespaman don't listen to that.

Yes, also the maps have been updated. You will have to download them again after updating.

Thanks @wildtrak

Now I have done a reset and also, I connected straight to another wifi network, same issue. So I guess I need to go to a dealer. (I take it, that the diagnostic software is not available to end users anywhere?)

And, while running through the menu system today, I found a menu that confirms this is a 8GB unit - under settings->help->system information, there's a lot of nice info.

I had this problem with Nyon 1. As it was never officially released in the US, my dealer refused any assistance :( The good news is that with repeated attempts while systematically making changes, I always managed to get it working (eventually). My first suggestion would be to remove the device from your phone's (or any other device) Bluetooth. It's been a while now, but I'd simplify the process by removing alternative communication, deleting maps to free up space and so on. I had the 1G version, so it was even less fun ... Eventually you will get a successful download.

Or some friend that has the software. A lot of people have it in Europe. The bike dealers definitely have it there.

Right, sometimes it required a lot of patience. It seems some of them really needed to be on the WiFi for a longer time until they eventually did the download.
