Turbo Vado SL 4.0 Tick-Tock Noise

I thought about the pivot bolt and tension so I did a test with a bungie cord to add a bit more tension and there was no change.

There is no play in the crank or crank arms that can detect and I'd like to think it's not the motor because the noise happens with the motor off. By the way, the tick happens on the down stroke of the right pedal and the tock happens on the downstroke of the left pedal.

Probably not my shoes rubbing. I greased them up pretty well!

I have an appointment at the local bike shop on May 5. We will see what happens.

Sorry, just edited my reply to change references to "motor" when I really meant "drive unit". The drive unit still functions as your bottom bracket, even when the motor's off.

The Specialized Mahle drive shaft is about 34mm diameter vs a SRAM DUB crank axle at 28.99mm. The bearings are correspondingly larger which why we don't normally have any bottom bracket issues for the life of the motor.

The bottom bracket of traditional bikes remains a mystery for me Why do some users need to buy a crankset to replace the chainrings? Why do other users only need to replace the chainring? Why aren't bottom brackets standardised? (These are rhetorical questions!)

A riding buddy looked at my Vado SL: "It has got thru-axles!" -- "It has any modern feature you could ask for!" Self-extracting cranks! Replaceable chainring!
