Turbo battery on/off switch failure

My newish (2 month old) Turbo X wouldn't turn on a couple days ago. The suddenly-appearing problem was somewhat ironic in that I had it in to my LBS for the 200 mile tune-up the day before and all seemed fine.

Chargers would not charge. I feared the battery had shorted out or something such that the voltage was too low to take a charge. There was a 74% charge on it the day before. This seemed to be borne out by a multimeter reading off the two main battery pins of 18 volts, but apparently I have no understanding of the battery connections (and I wouldn't rule out the possibility that I am incompetent with my multimeter).

After looking the bike over, my LBS decided the on/off switch had simply stopped working. A new battery will replace the old one under warranty, and they loaned me the battery off their demo bike in the meantime. Makes me happy I bought local, even if I had some longings for models they didn't carry.

Thanks for the link, Senseiwai. I can forgive myself for forgetting having read the thread (even if being of recent vintage). I don't know how I missed spotting it when I searched the Specialized forum for battery problems.

Wish I would have thought about looking at the battery with Mission Control while I had the it...
