If you didn't already have reason to believe that Donald J. Trump isn't the greatest president to have ever lived, perhaps his administration's latest order will convince you:

Motorized electric bicycles may soon will soon be used on trails in national parks and other public lands nationwide under a new Trump administration order that will allow e-bikes on every federal trail where a regular bike can go.

Only Class 1 ebikes are allowed on Class 1 biking infrastructure... and I have been riding National Parks for the last 3 years. Common sense and respect for others means more than anything else when riding ebike in public places.

The federal ebike regulation always stated that compliant ebikes were not motorized vehicles. I think all Trump did was notify public sector workers to use their brains and follow what was already permitted by the regulations signed by Bush Sr.

Must have been something in the works years ago? I can't see the current administration pushing this through to advance the usage of ebike on public lands with ebikes almost all made overseas or made with overseas parts?

I can see them passing laws for clean coal ebikes with hub or mid-drive engines that can also do fracking when parked on federal lands.

Yup. One of the 1st places I rode to was Mount Rainier, National Park. The only issue I have ever had has been trying to find available power. I hear they are installing Power Stations for EVs in many Parks (wonder who made millions in that deal) but I doubt they will have standard 120V outlets for bike chargers, let alone actual dedicated bike charging stations. And who is going to police the morons with little electric motorcycles that can slam it for 15 miles before the battery is dead? It's a complicated world. Cheers.

I did the Grand Canyon and that was very (e)bike friendly with dedicated paved trails and off road walking/riding paths. You can really get away from all the tourist and enjoy the sights on an ebike. Went to Moab and Canyonland the following year and that park is waaaay too big and paved roads too narrow for any kind of bikes other than a motorcycle. No shoulder, no dedicated bike paths, narrow lanes, huge campers, and 5-20 miles between sights would make it almost impossible to get around on an ebike. Put almost 50-70 miles per day on my car average to see the sights.

I'm ok with all the sights in-between the "Sights". I completely understand what you are saying but have only ever hung my bike on the back of my car to take it to the shop. My "shops" unfortunately are 40+ miles away or I would ride... if I could. I have camped/squatted/hung-out somewhere for a few days doing day rides then pack everything up start rolling only to set everything back up less than 10 miles away. It does suck trying to share the road with vehicles 10 times my size being driven by people that feel the need to impress me by speeding past and then straddling the right stripe for some reason, but I will ride on surfaces with no shoulder when I have to. Stay safe.
