Trek w/Bosch Smartphone hub lighting question

I have a Trek Allant with the Bosch smartphone hub. On this bike, as sold, the lights come on with the bike. There's no way to turn them off or make them flash vice steady, to my knowledge, despite what the manual says (but the shop can unlock the ability to turn the lights on/off). I was riding today and found myself in a heavy downpour. No problem getting home and the bike performed fine. After getting inside, when I turned the bike on to check the battery level, I noticed the lights are now flashing, two long and two short pulses. I don't know if this is some sort of daytime flash mode I stumbled upon, or if it's a signal that something is amiss with the bike, perhaps water ingress. I also noticed that if I tap the high beam button, it stops flashing and switches to high beam and the tail light returns to its normal flash pattern. Tap again to low beam and it performs as expected as well. However, if I leave it for a few seconds, it will begin flashing again in the 2/2 pulse pattern. There is no error code on the screen. What's going on?

I'll preface this that there is zero information in the Trek or Bosch manuals on this and the Trek store doesn't know much about the product.

Just a follow up, I spoke with a different Trek shop who advised me the lights are supposed to pulse in the daytime with the light sensor on the head unit but it's never done it before for me, and when covering it to trick it into darkness, it still doesn't stop pulsing. I've tried it several ways, turning the bike off and then back on in darkness, toggling the high/low etc. Nevertheless, he assured me it's not a warning code and it's supposed to pulse in daylight. mtf....?

I have tried to look throughout the bike for a day time sensor but I haven’t found one yet.... will keep you posted if I run something...

That's interesting. Mine randomly turned on again today but only for a couple of minutes and went back to steady. Can you only turn yours on and off or can you also control whether it's flashing or steady?

It flashes randomly when i am riding and its sunny out. But by holding the Up or + button i can turn the light on and off whenever i want it to. it took me several calls to find a LBS that can do the update for the motor and the lights on and off.

In fact, the video I posted above, it was flashing whether or not the lights were on in the apartment. It's a real hazard. I can't ride with a strobing light for a headlight at night. I'm disappointed that neither Trek nor Bosch provides any literature on this.

Allant headlight blinking

2020 Allant+ 8s. My LBS modified the light to be turn-affable by holding down the + button. I never turn it off. Sometimes my headlight is blinking (vs steady on). Anyone know how it decides to blink or stay on steady? Is there an ambient light sensor? Or maybe my wiring is loose 😬
