Trek Verve + 3 here

I just want to weigh in about the Verve + 3. It is often dismissed here as underpowered or overpriced. And that may be true, but arguably, it is not aimed at an enthusiast market such as a majority of members here. If you look at reviews on the Trek website, you will find that the Verve + 3 has more reviews and an equal rating (4 3/4 stars) to the Allant models. It’s not a perfect e-bike for me, but more suitable than the Allant with its very low step over, and I don’t need any more power than it delivers. I have modified it for more off-road use with Redshift seatpost and stem, removed the chain guard, put a wider range cassette on, and have off-road/winter tires on the way. Approaching 4000 km, it has served me perfectly well.

I liked the +3 and could have been happy with it but preferred the Allant‘s climbing power for my hilly area. Main reason I ordered a +7 Lowstep for my wife was to share rackbags, parts, and go together on rougher trails.

I love reading your adventures on your Verve. I rode the Verve+3 and it was very nice. Super comfy. Like @Dallant I live in a hilly area and also on lots of gravel roads. the more I thought about it the more the flat bar and geometry of the Allant seemed better suited to my primary riding conditions. I do not think of one as better than the other, just different. It sounds like you have managed to find the best of both worlds by modifying your bike to suit you perfectly.
