Trek Bafang Conversion

Not my bike, but the owner said I should post pictures of the work I did for him. So here is his Trek road bike with a Bafang mid-drive kit installed. He ordered the optional ebrake and gear sensors. I couldn't find an elegant or workable way to mount the ebrake sensors on either the main or cross levers so I left those off. Installing the gear sensor was no problem, other than trying to sneak a new gear cable through without having to pull the motor off. I opted to leave the front derailleur on; locking it out to act as a chain guide. I used Cobra Flexroute cable guides to tidy up the wire going to the head unit. Lastly, I modified an accessory mount to place the control pad and throttle just behind the handlebar; the throttle can be activated using the index finger. The kit is not difficult to install...I have done it before...but trying to keep the wiring from looking messy, and in this case, figuring out a solution for the button pad and throttle (which won't fit on road bike handlebars) took some time.

Nice work ,impeccable. Not easy to find a good mechanic/engineer who can do that.

I hope that the owner won’t grind it hard otherwise the drivetrain will need constant swaps.

Battery and motor info ? Throttle speed ?

Thank you. I find it interesting that the Bafang gear sensor module (which momentarily cuts power during shifts for smoother gear changes) is not made in China, but the Czech Republic!

I honestly didn't look at the order sheet, but I'm pretty sure it was the 1000W kit with a 52V battery. I have no idea what speed is attainable with only the throttle. The customer did ride it and was very happy; he probably didn't get the full experience since I suspect they ship the battery with a low state of charge.

It was designed and patented by the Czech company. China just did what they always do. Copy and clone and sell for less. I was a beta tester and did a thread on endless_sphere. IMO they are a waste of money. A slight backpedal or tap on the brake cutout achieves a smooth shift. BTN copied it.

30-34 MPH for the BBSHD.

BTW!! A VERY NICE BUILD!!!
