Tim from Holland, Michigan - New Trek Allant+8S

oberst - i think the Powerfly will be amazing because so many opportunities to ride off road trails that provide some of the most beautiful rides through the woods, smelling the pine trees like it's Christmas, seeing the sun rays through the trees, etc. we are finding we love riding through the woods. we are very blessed to live near a wonderful trail system. i look forward to your (her) review of the bike once you get a chance to ride it. by the way, how long did you have to wait for it? our local shop said forget about an Allant or Powerfly for 2021 - all gone!

I’m interested in hearing the review of the Powerfly Equipped. It’s one bike I’d be willing to make N+1!

When I asked my wifes shop in VA, they said they had orders but likely would be end of year. Found a shop in NC had one in size small so he was able to do a trade and get it for her. Luck and good people came together. For her the bike is perfect for all her uses, paved bike paths, easy forest trails and we can take some long rides by adding panniers and maybe do a multi day ride with panniers and a hotel stay to recharge overnight.

Looks great!

Trek has really outdone Specialized in the last 2 years. I wish i had some sales figures for Allant, Domane+Hp, Turbo Creo Sl , Vado/Como.

Trek also has their own outstanding retail service shops , Specialized only has dealers and is quite demanding on them to only sell their bikes.

Xtra points for Specialized for developing their own motor (2.1) .

Commuter : Allant+7/8s models few steps better then Vado/Como/SL

Road: Domane +HP is vastly superior to Creo

Mtb.: No comment here, maybe others can drop a few lines.

Enjoy the lithium power 🎠🚵‍♀️ !!

Oh, you’ve done it now!

Thank you to all of the contributors here on the electricbikereview forum. I learned a lot!!!

I have been studying and reading and visiting bikes shops pretty steady for about four months.

now i'm official.

background, i purchased my "gateway" bikes in august 2019 and my wife julie and i put almost 1,000 miles on them in the first 14 monts. LUNA Mosso Folders. 20" wheels, bafang something 750 watt middrive, throttle, 9 assist levels. very, very, very fun. my wife got addicted right away and figured out how to "air pedal" looking like you are working but getting full power out of the battery motor. i think it's a LUNA Eric trick. pretty cool.

anyway, the folding handlebar folded on me at about 12-14 mph and i slammed into the concrete last november. hence the start of my search. so ... folders are great ... until they aren't. not sure i'll ever ride it again. plus, very unstable at ebike speeds over 20 mph.

fell in love with the specialized vado's ... but no 5.0 to be found, and i just couldn't bring myself to swallow the smaller 500 wH battery. looked at Giant, Gazelle, Cannondale, etc. but kept coming back to the Allant+8S for the 625 wH battery and overall build quality.

froze my fingers and toes on my first decent ride last evening. but i sure felt alive.

this thing is a mercedes S Class compared to my LUNA yugo if you guys remember the $3,999 new car from the 1980's. car and driver said, "if that's all the money you have for a car, get a used Chevette."

that's how i feel about the Allant so far. extraordinary design, engineering, attention to details, quality of everything. solid as a 56 pound tank should feel.

God willing, i'm going to be living on this thing.

sincerely, i thank you for all your help and kindness in this forum. some great dudes and dudettes here. TIM (in ebike little heaven)
Greetings, I too love the Vado series but can’t find any so I’m looking at this bike as plan B. About the only thing that I font like is the rear rack. I not a fan of the racks that sink down into the fender. I feel that I am forced to put on a pannier to carry anything. Other than that it looks fabulous. Happy cyclino.

RGV, I am pleasantly surprised by how much I prefer the panniers to a top box. They are fantastic. Keep weight low and hold a lot. So I no longer want a top box. The Bontrager panniers i bought are made for the Allant+8S goofy rack but work like a charm. Trek ain’t dumb. Tim

Post a pic with the panniers. I will eventually be commuting to work so I’ll need some.

It wouldn’t have been my choice but IMO there’s a rack for everyone!😂

Yes LBS replaced stock rack more easily than we thought. Bag has fold out panniers though I haven’t used more than the bag. One negative I’ve found is the high leg swing mounting...but I’m old and have not been to Yoga for a few years

Hi Mulezen,

To help with the mounting, I sometimes walk my bike over to the curb and hop on from there.
