Throttle issues?

I bought a wixin half twist throttle for my Yukon 750 and it came with a female connection, so I had a male connection laying around and I cut the female end off and spliced the wires on the male end the 3 wires are black,purple and white and on the throttle the wires are black, White and red,I hook the black to black, white to white, when I hook touch purple to red the bike takes off without turning the throttle, any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I would appreciate any feedback back,thankyou.
