The transition

Plug in solar is in the UK, battery to follow.
The prices are a bit ridiculous at the moment.

Argos is selling UKSOL kits from £599 to £1,199. German buyers get 1,000W of panels and an 800W inverter for around €230. Same components, several times the price.

I presume thats to do with emerging markets, certainly seems no one is getting any grants.

We are limited to 800w, but you also have to buy official setups, which is sensible as mass marketed , government sanctioned kit.

The issue is combining likely poor installation positioning and being the second lowest solar poeer potential country on Rarth.

In international rankings, the UK comes last but one for solar power potential. Solar performs so poorly here that it is by far the least productive in the government’s list of renewable energy generators.

Professor Michael Jefferson, former Deputy Secretary-General, World Energy Council, and contributor to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Nobel Peace Prize: “Our annual average PV output per installation is around half that of southern European countries like Spain. The World Bank ranks the UK 229 out of 230 for solar power potential. This is due to features we can’t change – surrounded by seas and frequently beneath clouds, the varying intensity of solar irradiance during the seasons of the year, and latitude, determining our fewer daylight hours. Across the year, the resultant solar power is a grossly ineffective source of electricity generation for the UK

In fact it averages at 9%, which makes giant farm solar up here in the north , which can dip to 5%, simply an exercise in investors claiming grants and feed payouts.

Solar just surpassed coal for electricity production in China.
Capacity, yes. Production, not even close.

It is amusing they still get away with that obvious trick and when they claim a million homes etc, its a theoretical super efficiency home and doesnt include heating and alone of course the renewables couldnt possibly supply those homes without battery storage somewhere in the loop.

I appreciate some people see this as an attack on renewables, just saying where they are.
If I said nuclear was the safest energy production and purposely left out chernobyl and 10 thousand year half life waste, you would rightly call me out.

Anyway Astra gpt6.
I can see about an infinite amount of problems with this.
Starting with lawyers talking to the cloud when the cloud is practically sentient.
This also prickles my equality senses.
Minority woman is shopping, minority man is making rocket games.
White man is running a law firm, white woman is running a business.
I thought that was completely against ESG.
