I hate doing that, I think those little throttle tweaks are heavy hits to the battery's range. I'd rather ride it out until I have enough pedal rotation that I can downshift. But if I'm crossing a dicey intersection or going uphill...
Been riding my new Buzz ebike for the last 3 days. I find the 7 gears very usefull . Been really windy here the last few days. Have road many thousands of miles as a younger man, but the last 20 years it has been a single speed beach cruiser for me, and I have enjoyed it for all the reasons mentioned here. Now I have not put much on for miles ether. The buzz will change that . Primary use will be commuting , for exercise, and bike shuttles for kayaking . Maybe my beach cruiser will turn into a ebike.
