Tern HSD line vs. Cruiser style - which one???

My question is very simple. Is this form factor of bike (something in the Tern HSD line) suitable for long distance (say 20 miles at a clip) pleasure riding (hills included) or is a cruiser style bike a better bet? I want comfort and power, speed not an issue, 20 mph is fine. Thanks.

I should think both will have a very similar riding position, where you are sitting straight up. A cruiser (I assume you mean like a beach-style cruiser), will have much larger wheels and tires so it is going to feel a bit more plush. 20 miles is not far in my book, but I am not you. :p With a motor though, 20 miles should be a breeze either way.

Thank you for the response. Yes, beach style. And just to clarify - I am 73, overweight and out of shape. Right now I am doing 9 miles a day on a very heavy, underpowered, trike. So this next bike will hopefully help me carry on improving and smooth out the bad hills.

The Tern has a mid-drive, which are great for hills. For something comparable, you might check out Electra. Raleigh has some too.

I ride a Raleigh retroglide beach cruiser and it suits me just fine. I follow along behind my wife who rides in the 8 to 12 mph range. The upright position is great if you want to enjoy the ride and the scenery. If I was in a hurry a more leaned forward bike would be better. But I'm not.
