Super Commuter Rear Fender Removal

I have a recently acquired 2019 Super Commuter+ 7 that I am mulling removing the fenders. I have seen a few modified ones that have done it, and I prefer the aesthetic. I know that the rear fender has the taillight and associated wiring and am looking for experiences on what folks did with their wiring? Did you simply cut it, wrap the cut end and tuck it away? Or did you go into the motor connection and actually disconnect it there to keep that wire and connector whole?

I might move the tail light under the seat. Shorten the wiring.
That was a thought if that can be cleanly done, with a suitable bracket and neatly routing the wire. From my research this morning I believe I have ID'd the correct connector and knowing that I will just take a look inside that area and see what it looks like. I am guessing it's a pretty straightforward run.

I ride Atlantic 7s & 8#.with identical frames and cannot establish a reason to remove the rear fender..
Espececially not under the MIK rear carrier mounting plate.

Especially not under the MIK rear carrier mounting plate.
You refer to the Trek Allant? That's OK, certainly not all things for all people. And not trying to convince anyone of anything, just pursuing an idea for myself. They may very well go back on, but I enjoy testing ideas.

OK, in the end this was rather easy. I will just leave this here for any future searchers that may want to attempt the same thing.
  1. Bike inverted
  2. Rear wheel off
  3. Side motor cover off
  4. Locate the indicated connector
  5. Pull that out
  6. Carefully slide this connector to freedom from under the battery connector
  7. The remove the two allen head screws and the two rack screws and the entire fender/rack unit will come free for easy removal.
  8. Be mindful of the spacer and washers. However if you lose a spacer a new kit is cheap, Trek P/N 552280
  9. And if you want to cover that now open connector port, the blanking kit is Bosch P/N 1270.020.449
A fully non destructive modification, nothing cut or damaged. Easy off, and if you don't like it, easy back on.
