Subscription model for Ebikes

Van Moof is offering a subscription where you can rent an ebike for $298 down and then $19 a month. It would seem to lower the cost of entry for a lot of people, and might even make sense if you are moving somewhere for just a short while, but do not want to take your bike with you, as you can cancel the subscription anytime and Van Moof will just come and pick up the bike. And on top of all that, the $19 month includes maintenance!!

Here is a story about it: https://electrek.co/2018/06/02/vanmoofs-two-new-theft-proof-electric-bicycles/

And here is the Van Moof website: https://www.vanmoof.com/en_us/plus

I just rented some ebikes to use on vacation and it cost $75 a day or $275 a week. This would start to make sense even if I was just visiting somewhere for 10 days or more. Unfortunately, there are still very limited locations where this offer is available, but maybe some other ebike companies will get on the subscription bandwagon.

I agree. I would take full advantage and rent for 1-2 weeks before purchase. Perhaps have a plan that has an 'option to buy' program attached for purchase incentives along with a maintenance package to boot. I'm in if they become available.
