The bike shops make 50% markup on new ebikes or bikes. The Bike brands like Giant makes another 20-30% markup on the China factory price which is 500-900$ at most.

I have a yamaha YZF-R1 and it has 15000 kms each year and it is still rolling. Too bad I was caught speeding recently and got suspended for 2 months.
