Speedwobble

Usually, it's the rear tire with a slightly higher air pressure @reoutput, just 2-5 psi more to help offset the greater weight in the back. And although some front bags, even handlebar bag may alter handling a bit, the design of a bike works best with evenly distributed weight. Some low step frames are vulnerable to wobble at start up if there's no supporting strut above a very low step to add rigidity to the frame.

I replaced the original tyres with Schwalbe Energizer Plus (47c). They seem much better with more damping than the originals. Didn't get any speed wobble this morning, so far so good...
[Update: 3x commutes later and no sign of speedwobble. The Energizers are great - extra rotating mass makes the bike even more stable - the rough roads seem smoother - and no wobbles]

Aaaaargh, the wobble returns! After three weeks of no wobbles, the bike was wobbling like Jello this morning. Nothing has changed to re-introduce it. Weird.

Since getting a set of Ortlieb panniers I am very pleased to say that the wobble has disappeared. Previously I had a backpack strapped to the rear rack and it seems that the weight on the rack up high must have created an instability. Very happy with the Orlieb bags. Also happy that I can run slightly lower tyre pressures which all up makes the bike 10x more comfortable.

Every single bike I rode shows that effect but at different speeds. It is a question of structures' resonance frequencies.
