Currently have a 500 Watt ebike, full watt 1200 it was first bike. Looking at getting budget Specialized bike, they all seem to have mid engine motors.

Can anyone tell me if these Speacilized bikes have full auto mode, I commute going up some big hills into the wind. Will these motors get me up on full auto mode? Assistance appreciated.

All Specialized ebikes are mid-drives. They all use the TCD controller which allows rider selection of the support level (none, Eco, Sport, and Turbo). The actual level of support at each level can be specified pre-ride through the Specialized Mission Control app. I'm not clear what you mean by 'full auto mode'? The rider needs to select the assist level with a handlebar mounted '+/-' button. In my experience the bike responds immediately to any changes.

Can the Specialized ebikes get you up some hills? In a word, yes. I ride a Specialized Vado 5. The motor is rated 250W 'nominal' power but has peaked at 800W output for me as reported on the app's power
meter. It will output a solid 90Nm of torque allowing slopes of over 20% to be ridden fairly easily.

The motor capacity varies by model. The Vado/Como 3 uses the 1.2e motor with 50Nm of torque. The 4 series uses the 1.2 motor has 75Nm or torque, but with a smaller chain ring than the 5 series resulting in similar climbing ability.

Test riding would be the best way to go.

Ride On! 😎

Yes. they have. You need to connect your Specialized Turbo e-bike to the Mission Control App and select Smart Control in the app. That works very well. The Smart Control automatically adjusts the assistance so you can meet your ride distance or ride time or heart rate goal.

You might, however, misunderstood what Full Auto meant. It is not the bike will give you more assistance uphill. You use derailleur for that. As in any other mid-drive e-bike.

NB: Full Auto in mid-drive e-bike is not what automatic transmission in a car is. For example, Giant e-bikes have the AUTO mode built in. If you approach a big hill with a Giant e-bike in AUTO mode, you won't get more assistance though. On contrary, you will get less assistance until you downshift.
