I bought the above SMLRO xdc600 in December which arrived in April and assembled professionally here in Quebec City Canada. After about 8 outings, I heard a grinding sound at the top of the hill near my home. I stopped then proceded uneventfully until near my frint door, the bike became unresponsive. The battery was still charged, all lights and displays worked but no exceleration was possible. I have heard that twisting and releasing the throttle can result in a break so deduce the problem as burnt motor or busted twist throttle. I would like to invite any thoughts on fixes or my next steps. Thank you and as a new member, hello to all.

Return it to the source where it was professionally assembled. Have them take a look at it...

They lost their expert so I'm in contact with a shop with all the bells and whistles hoping they'll fit me in.

I would advise exercising your warranty rights. But than, I went to look at their website, even typing in "warranty" in their site search engine and came up with........nothing. They do not appear to have an avenue for warranty claims or anything to help a customer with a problem on their bike.

Posters @harryS and @tomjasz I believe are familiar with these chineseium drives and are worth seeking out, here. They, along with the shop that has your bike, might be able to come up with a solution (while the mfgr gets off from their post sale obligations, scot free) Good luck and let us know how it plays out.

I have it with some folks who own an ebike sales and repair shop. They are working on it having already found some burn wires in the battery harness box. Now I want to know why the melting. Thanks for your advice. It's appreciated.

A wiring connection that's maybe not adequately sized, not completely engaged or is otherwise "loose" can get really hot if it's carrying a lot of amperage. That's my bet regarding what I see here. With any luck at all, those connections can be replaced, maybe with something a little more substantial, and you'll be back in business.

You might want to do a mental review regarding how you were using the bike as well. Maybe you were asking a lot of it prior to this happening, pushing it's abilities?

You're dead right. I'm new at ebiking, a big guy, my terrain is mountainous and I pushed it the last time I took it out thinking it was up to it. Before the problem the thing was a beast, fast and capable so I think it's a great bike and that I am responsible. I'm also in touch with the Chinese manufacturer ( great folks!) who asked for pics and my take on why the wires melted hence my active interest. Thanks for your thoughts.
