Sizing - 2019 Sduro trekking S 9.0 High Step

I picked it up this week. I will post my thoughts after I get a chance to ride it more this weekend.

Looking forward to some ride reports. I'd like to hear how the dual battery is working out and in particular, the mounting system - does it seem stable/sturdy? Easy to remove the external pack?

i am slightly concerned about your lights. I think you have the skybeamer there from Haibike. I am expecting the B&M Lumotec with the brake tail lights. Were you surprised here? I am all weather commuter and having a brake activated tail light and high powered headlight is very important to me.

Yes i was surprised. It is a skybeamer 150 which is not great - lower lumen (they have a skybeamer 300 and 5000 version but cant find it so I added two 1200 lumen niteriders for now - if you look closely at the pic). Also does not come with a mirror or horn as shown in some internet pictures - but added these. Also taillight is not tied to braking. Overall - not ideal but created work arounds for now.

Yes - seems to be stable/sturdy. No “play” just a tiny bit (less than a mm) of “flex” from side to side. That may be a good thing though. Is really easy to remove and click in. I did ride a few miles on washboard dirt roads and everything seemed fine. I will keep an eye on it though over the next few weeks to make sure everything stays tight down there. One note is my LBS needed to drop my motor to install the second battery harness and they said there was not much room in there and if they did it again they might hardwire vs using the larger harness connector. nice ride. looks like you customized it pretty heavily. what size did you end up getting?

I was able to ride a similar geometry haibike and ended up going with the medium 56 - which is larger than most of the recommendations. With that said - i do have longer arms and like a more aggressive riding style (more stretched out than upright). I could have dealt with some of that with stem/bar/seat. I only have about an inch of clearance on the standover - which is not great but i do not do a lot of stop and go. A smaller size (52) would have worked fine and I also agree with the recommendations of the low step version. If I did it all over again it would still be a tossup - maybe the low step version. Based on my experience - all the posts on this thread were good and sound advice and will likely be a tough decision for folks looking at this bike.

The EU specs have B&M light, horn and mirror. It is a law in EU to have brake lights, mirror on S-pedelecs.
For the US market, it is not required to sell the bike.

Also, you can notice, the brakes are Tektro Orion 4-piston vs Magura MT4.
The lights are changed.

if you are in the EU, you should receive B&M lights but anyone in the US can upgrade to Lezyne 1000 lumen or Light & Motion SECA 1800 lumens instead of crowding the handlebar with aftermarket lights.

Do these two lights plug directly into the existing cable and run off the main battery ? That would be nice .

yes SECA 1800 is a very powerful and runs at 12V (the default value on your bike) and has different flashing, low, high beam modes. You could have replaced your front light with this one: https://www.lightandmotion.com/shop/bike-lights/lights-for-e-bikes/seda-1800-e-bike

This one and Lezyne 1000 runs off main battery and you never have to worry about recharging etc. It is clean, no-hassle solution.

I notice you have Crankbrothers 5050 pedals. They are wonderful. Hope you enjoy your bike and put 1000's of miles on it.

I kind of feel like the US is getting the shaft. I don't really care about the horn or the mirror but the lights are a big deal. What is the consensus on the brakes (tektron vs magura)?

I think it would be fine. Looks like multiple output levels 1800 (high), 900 (medium), 450 (low) and I think different beam patterns can be set - diffused (flood) and beam (throw). I think I am going to try both (lezyne and light & motion) to check them out. I like light because I bike some pretty dark roads in the country and you’re moving faster (ebike) - the more reaction time the better.

the research never ends. now i'm on to tektro brake lever sensors. Erich, what is the brake lever model? Think it can take a wired sensor for the rear light?

Also, (and feel free to say no here), do you know the exact measurements of the thru axels (pitch and length which should be written on them)? I'm going to replace the QR ones with something like https://robertaxleproject.com/lightweight-thru-axles/. Wouldn't mind ordering them before my bike gets here.

I see how to mount the lezyne centered (using the handlebar clamp bolts) but I dont see how to mount the SECA centered?

L&M NIP model series has a Intuvia mount, you could use that or you could also use the extenders you have and center it.

SECA can also be centered using their GoPro mount (comes standard in the package) and use K-edge adapter to mount it like this.

Does anyone know how easy it will be to switch out the light (from a wiring perspective) to an aftermarket ebike light like the ones referenced in this thread (lightmotion seca, lezyne). I haven't taken a close look yet to see what this will entail. Thx

One thing to note on the Haibike websites this year is the nomenclature used to describe sizing between the North American website (USA) and the European websites. When and if choosing this bike in North America following the frame size measurements in cm not (Small, Medium, Large, etc......) as this will definitely confuse a lot of people including myself initially.
