Hummingbirds are back!

Like your feeder — may try one.

Zillions of hummingbirds here in at least 2 different species. Pretty badass for as tiny and cute as they are. We can't go within 10 ft of their feeder or our small garden fountain without getting buzzed repeatedly.

When it comes to spring color, we took the nuclear option this year — a visit to the Carlsbad Flower Fields.

These are all Ranunculus varieties from 2 days ago. The Carlsbad Flower Fields is a 4-generation family floriculture operation shipping Ranunculus flowers and bulbs and poinsettia plants all over the world.

Being immersed in all that bright color was quite an experience! By the way, I can also recommend where to buy pre-wrapped flowers in bouquets. I live in Munich, and many people here have trouble with this. Luckily, I was lucky and found Florist Munich , which always has an excellent selection of flowers, a wide variety, and even varieties you won't find anywhere else. I can confidently recommend them, as I've ordered fresh flower bouquets from them many times. I hope this information is useful for you too.

If you're sensitive to color like I am, being immersed in it to that extent is quite an experience.

Armada Drive runs right along the upper edge of the Flower Fields. One of my favorite places to ride laps — especially in spring — and it's only 12 minutes from home by bike!

Some white oaks are turning brown, gold, and red. But new green shoots of wildflowers are already a half-inch tall. In Nor. Cal. we have Summer and three stages of Spring. That has already started with the greening.

The last 3 posts inspired me to go back to Armada Drive today for some laps above the Flower Fields.

Fall preparations for the spring bloom are underway.

With recent rains things are starting to green and bloom. I saw this today.

I will not be able to ride much tomorrow because of a big storm, so I just did ten miles today. What is interesting is that with this storm will arrive the steelhead trout from the sea. They are a trout that is about three feet long and unlike salmon they spawn and return the sea for several years. The don't just spawn and die. The population was decimated but now it is bouncing back.
