Show today's ride.

Just starting to look a bit like fall in the Pinery woods today. Met a group of four seniors on a grassy trail there where I’ve never seen anyone before. Stopped and had a great chat at the top of a steep hill. One of them said, “you must have turned your e-bike on for that”. I replied, “No. It was already on.” They looked like a pretty fit bunch, but also lots of interest in the e-bike. Nice to meet people out biking, whatever they’re riding.
I both love and hate to see autumn come in the PNW. It's beautiful to be sure but it makes the seasons seem to roll over faster when I can see autumn as early as late August, early September. All the deciduous vegetation changing colors so quickly and to such extremes. I love it... and I don't. I lived in Arizona for a few years, spring lasted for a couple of days, summer for the next 8 months, and Winter the rest of the year. I rode in the rain for the 1st time in months yesterday... guess I need to put the front fender back on. I ride around a lot of other bicyclists both assisted and not so what an ebike can do isn't much of a surprise to anyone. I recently rode from home to Mowich Lake on Mount Rainer for an overnighter. A couple of groups of hikers doing the Wonderland Trail were amazed at the set-up a bike and trailer allow you. It's easy to make friends when you can offer a group of young lady adventurers the 1st hot shampoo in 4 days. Or when you are sitting having lunch (or a drink) somewhere remote and someone drives up in a lifted SUV. The cost of bike, gear, modifications, and maintenance exorbitant. The look of WTF... priceless.

Lovely note, thanks!

Great ride in nearby provincial park... starting to look a bit like fall.

What is the weight of your bike loaded as it is?
Over 100 lbs. with the overloaded bar-bag. The bike is 50+ lbs., motor 6 lbs., battery and bag 18 lbs., 20 pounds between the bar-bags,, Fugoo XL speaker is 8 lbs., I never notice the weight unless I have to actually pick it up or over something. In this video...
it shows the Pin Pile bridge outage on the Foothills Trail in Washington state last year. I would ride 15+ miles out of the way to get around that God damn tree rather than try and lug my bike over it alone. With two people it's simple enough but alone it was easier to ride around to get to the end of the trail.

Beautiful! I bet it gets bitter cold there in the winter. Great picture.
It does get very cold... ice piles up into mountains here some winters... maybe pictures of that later if I am up to biking on it! This one from a previous winter, shoreline near my home.

I've seen waves of ice being pushed into shore... not sure where that was, beautiful but like the interior of a volcano something I would only like to see from a distance. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Pleasant day for a ride after a couple of days of rain, and hauling my sailboat out of the water on Saturday.

Took to some country roads today... fall harvest is underway for a lot of crops... soybeans and celery among them.
