Short person bike

Hello,
New to forum. Looking for an ebike that would work for me. 4'11 and have not been on a bike - other than one I test rode the other day that felt too big. Thinking of the 24 inch miniceptor or the 24 inch cruiser, any suggestions? Any short people care to chime in? I will be riding mostly for recreation, there are a number of paved trails where I live, and some unpaved too. Not looking for a commuter, just something to have fun with and get some exercise. I now there are a number of bikes that may work. Open to suggestions.

Take a look at bikes with smaller wheels and low step-over frames... maybe even a Folder. ;)

Thanks, really looking for personal stories or recs from short riders

I am 5’2” so I looked for a low step-over bike for my first “serious” eBike this summer (I have had two cheap ones not worth the money wasted on them). I thought about a folding eBike, as I have a sailboat we have cruised thousands of miles on, but my wife isn’t up to that so much anymore... 10 years ago that would have been my choice. So I decided I wanted a bike I would ride in the great outdoors every day. I’m retired, so commuting wasn’t an issue. I looked at Treks because there is a good dealer an hour away in the nearest city. The Verve + 3 appealed to me because of the very low step-over. It isn’t a powerful bike, but the area I live in isn’t hilly and in Ontario, max legal speed is limited to 20 mph, otherwise it’s not considered an eBike.
The Verve has comparatively tall wheels at 700, so I can’t sit on the seat and touch the ground... I have to anticipate a stop and slide forward or dismount to the side. I have pretty much gotten used to this, and I love the way the tall wheels soak up bumps, especially since I have added Redshift seat and stem suspension. It totally changes the bike into a very smooth riding one on trails or rough pavement. I am completely happy with my decision this time around, after more than 2500 km.

My wife is just at 500mi with her Ecotric Dolphin Step Thru ( 20" Fat Tire Folder). Got it last December in sale for $749. I have the 26" Ecotric. They have worked flawlessly so far.

Court has done many reviews here for small ebikes, such as Rad Power bikes, and Electric. The challenge is being able to test ride. Many are online only.

This is Evelo Galaxy 500. Sorry, I have not ridden one but it has only 24 inch tires making it low to the ground. Has a nice step through frame. I would love to test ride one.

I’m also in the vertically challenged group -5’6. I’ve had 26, 27.5,and 29” bikes with small frames, if your seat height is properly set you will not be able to put you feet flat on the ground. Some times you can lower your seat if you legs can tolerate it ,to reach the ground For me the toes on the ground is good for me at a stop

Hi - I’m 5’1” on a good day and searched for a comfortable eBike for a while before settling on a Specialized Como 3 step through frame. It’s still a high step and the bike is still heavy. (49 pounds) But it seems better proportioned than others I tried. I like that the battery is built into the down tube. Much much easier to balance when starting and stopping than a battery that is in a rack behind the seat. You might consider test riding one. If you like the more aggressive riding position, try the Specialized Vada. Good luck!

So, have looked at the Dolphin online of course, and the Lectric Steph thru and am trying to decide between them....Would be interested in hearing your wife's take.

I love mine. It was a gift my husband surprised me with for Christmas. I like riding and exercising, so I really wasn't convinced until I used it. I go on rough trails, hard cross country through lots of sand. I'd never consider it on past bikes. I go a lot farther than I normally would. I don't avoid trails with hard hills anymore. They're a blast. Amy :)

Is it the dolphin?

My 4'11" daughter has a 24" Pedego Interceptor. She needed the "City Commuter" handlebars with the adjustable stem to fit the bike properly to her. :)
