Securing accessories.

Okay, this question didn't gain much response in another thread so let me create a thread for it.
I've read a lot of talk about securing the bikes, but what about the accessories, and the various mounts for those accessories? Is it a matter of removing the accessories/mounts when you arrive to where ever it is you're going? Or, simply not leaving the bike unattended once the accessories are mounted? Thanks.

Accessories? If they have great value it may make sense to take them with you. And why some trunk bags are removable. Some mounts have a quick-release feature to them.
I never worry much. Hell, half the time I don't even lock the house. LOL I wouldn't leave a high-end bike chained up in a high-crime area. Period. I get it...some have no choice. 😕

I've done a bazillion miles on adventure bikes, and some of the guys I rode with had a cable lock they would run through their jacket sleeves and helmet when they left their bike parked. Riders have returned to their bikes to find things missing, or vandalized - like someone would pour a can of soda or water in their helmet. I never bothered, never worried. My thought was a guy would have to be nutz to futz with a biker dude - putting your life on the line. LOL
Some of these guys have $1200 jackets and helmets - I was always too cheap to drop that kind of coin. 😋
