Roval Rapide C38 Boost stock

Hi all,

So a month ago I called into the Specialized store and ordered the Roval C38 boost wheel set for my Vado SL along with a sram cassette and conversion from Shimano to xd freehub. I paid a deposit and they seemed to know that the C38 shipment was due to arrive shortly. At first I just wanted to buy from the online store but it always said “on back order”.

I’ve been on vacation and out of town a couple of weeks and I informed them of this so will likely get the work done from mid Aug. what concerns me I guess is that I checked their online store on July 21 and amazingly they had 2 c38 boost wheel sets in stock ready to “add to cart”. When I check now it says “out of stock” and for the online store in other regions (UK/USA), the C38 boost has disappeared from the store altogether (I can’t find it.)

Just wondering if any others have ordered these recently? I’m hoping that the LBS has put my wheelset aside until I return and then I’ll give them a call. Worst scenario would be for them to tell me they’re no longer available despite me knowing that they had 2 in stock in July.

When you say “called into the specialized store” do you mean your local bike shop? One of the unfortunate things about Specalized’s distributor + online model is that is is a common occurrence for the shop to NOT be able to get things for quite a long time, while they ARE available (sometimes briefly) on the website. The website has a different batch of stock than the physical stores, essentially. The bike shops don’t love this, but it’s pretty hard to do the combo on online and physical store any other way.

Check with your shop. I hope they have a set for you but more likely than not they don’t… yet.

Thanks for the input. I don’t know the terms for the different stores but this was the Specialized owned store of which there are only 2 in the city. I was recommended to go there by my LBS which looks like a specialized store in terms of branding and layout but is actually not run by specialized.

I guess the only way to find out is to contact them!

I contacted the Specialized store and they told me they have my wheelset and xd freehub. The issue has been getting the cassette which they say could take 6 months through sram.

I’ve just gone ahead and ordered the cassette through Bikeinn and will take it along with me.

So, all good!
