Rolling bike backwards locks up drivetrain

After each ride upon arriving home I usually roll my Vado SL 5.0 backwards into the garage to place it in the spot where it will remain until the next ride, next to my car and against the wall. However, I have noticed the last few times while rolling back the drivetrain make a harsh grinding noise and then physically stopped and jammed up the movement. I then had to support the bike off of its rear wheel and attempt to shift the gear selector and rock the pedals back and forth to unlock the jammed up wheel.
Undoubtedly it appears to be a non-issue after resolving the problem but I'm concerned that maybe something is wrong?
Bike rides normally without any other issues....(today)

Is the chain loose? It can sometimes kind of double back on itself. Is the clutch engaged?

The chain is not loose.
Yes, clutch/lock is ON
