Does anyone who owns a Rize RX 2020 ebike have any information about maintenance and repairs that this ebike might need, I am thinking about buying a Rize RX 2020 ebike and I would like to know how they are holding up...
Thanks,
Ron Stephenson
I own the RX and have had it since October 2020. I’m in Ontario. It’s a powerful Ebike With great torque. It’s heavy and I’m a senior rider. It is not for the squeamish.
The sizing chart on the website needs to be modified to stress that it’s for taller riders. Anyone 5‘7“ and I’d suggest up to 5’9”
will have trouble riding this bike, if they don’t have at least 30” of step over height
I’m 5-91/2 close to the 30 “ inseam size and it’s difficult to slip forward off the saddle with out it jamming you in the behind and my saddle is as far back on the post as possible.
I suggested to Rize, by way of a review, that they concider putting more belly in the top tube and have it start earlier. This would accommodate the shorter riders better.
So it has some design flaws in the frame and I’d say if your at least 5’ 10 with a good 30“ stand over height you should be ok, but It is tight Stepping forward off the saddle
My gripe, is with brakes. They have been temperamental right out of the gate, and on this topic Rize has not been much help. I’ve had to solve the brake issues by myself such as improperly aligned pads
intermittent weird scrapping sounds and intermittent chattering. But the brakes do work. Likely warped rotor or something stuck on the pad, dirt. All solvable but.....
Rize is a distributor of Ebikes with their brand on it. They are mostly built in China. They don’t have people on hand who know how to assess common issue with their bikes They don’t have repair techs. If it’s warranty you need thats about all you’ll get from them. I haven’t had to do warranty yet so we’ll see!
This is a powerful Ebike That’s why I bought it. Other mid drives I tried didn’t have enough power for steep hills.
I have never owned hydraulic brakes before and they do work well but like I said they are finicky so I’m still learning about them.
Im torn a bit about having spent a good dollar on a Ebike “online“ and typically if you buy a bike from a Local bike shop they will provide initial adjustments as part of the sale, if they are a reputable shop .
I would have hoped that when I contacted Rize about my 3 brake issues, they might have offered to pay for me to take the bike in and have it adjusted by a local pro!
Summing up: great ride, fun bike, good value for the money but I’d think again about buying an eBike online. If I lived in BC Canada maybe the squeaky wheel would get some grease.
