Moustache makes far better bikes if you're looking for that.
Only material downside of the SDM as a mountain bike is the long chainstay, but that makes it a better climber than shortstay mtb’s - uphill flow really is a thing on an eMTB. The rear suspension linkage is also probably a weak point, so I follow R&M’s guidance about not getting too much air. Otherwise I ride the same mtb trails as ‘real’ mtb’s.
 
Dont know if this has been mentioned in the thread, but it seems like most (if not all) Touring models have been updated with the new Shimano Linkglide groupset thats supposed to be 3x more durable or something. Not sure if im 100% on board with this, with regards to the supply and availability of parts.

At the very least, we'll no longer be competing with conventional bikes for drivetrain components.
