RideDash Evo Manual

Hello! I'm new to the forum and just got the 2021 Giant Explore 2 E+ GTS. I'm loving it so far, it has so many bells and whistles that it's taking me a long time to figure it all out. The main question I have is, does anyone know of a link to the manual for the RideDash EVO display unit and Ergo 2 input? I read the entire manual and it only mentioned RideControl Evo, RideControl Charge, and RideControl One . No mention of the actual device on my bike. Does anyone find that odd?

ah thanks for that. I see that's version 8.0 while the manual and user guide I got from the dealer was 7.0 *facepalm*
Very quick way to confuse your customer

Proper manuals are something that bike manufacturers seem to universally suck at. Given how long it takes to make and ship a bike and how manuals are literally the last thing anyone does, its possible that the 8.0 version didn't even exist when your bike was made and boxed up. My wife got a Thrive earlier in the year and the manual didn't have the Dash in it either.

Yeah I called the dealer to let them know and they apologized and said the old manual was included with my bike. I read it cover to cover and only like 50% of the info applied to my bike. Luckily I’m pretty tech savvy, but other folks would be legit confused and upset.

To pay so much for a high quality bike you’d think they’d spent a little time on QA. Very odd! They could even just add a piece of paper with the webpage of the up to date manual. But purposefully including an old, outdated manual is a really strange business move

My guess is its just a relic of most of these companies being more used to selling regular bikes and relying on their dealer network to educate customers. I mean, if you buy a normal bike the dealer can explain how shifting works, etc. Giant doesn't need a detailed manual. But theres nothing intuitive about the ebike systems, so if the dealer doesn't know it you kinda need the manual to explain how it works. I don't think the 8.0 was even on the website when my wife got her Thrive so I had to figure stuff out based on the old manual.

Their app doesn't really even explain anything either. A lot of companies with connected devices these days just include a "download our app!" sticker and the app connects to your device and explains how it works or has links to manuals or whatnot.

exactly. The salesperson showing me the bike only knew some of the tech tips and tricks. And for some (like the walking mode) he told me the incorrect way to do it.

for anyone confused about that: you click the “walking mode” button, then within 3 seconds hold the “+” button and the bike will roll forward as long as you hold the button.

the dealer guy got that way off lol
