Ride1up core-5 will not switch out of mode 1

I have a Core 5 ride1up ebike. The computer will not switch from mode 1. It has 1 through 5 for the pedal assist. But will only stay in mode 1. It will not switch out of it. Any suggestions or help? Thank you in advance

Try unplugging the battery and re-inserting.

Tryed that and still stuck in mode 1

A few years ago there were a few with a similar issue riding RAD's. Turns out the push buttons were getting stiff in the cold, and were pretty tough to operate with mittens on.
