ride.specialized website no longer available

Has anyone else noticed that the ride.specialized website is no longer available (as of last week)? While the same ride data history is available in the Specialized app I have always used the website (mainly for percentage of time in each assistance mode and exact percentage of battery usage), mainly because I find it easier on the 'big screen'. I find it strange that no comms or warning was received from Specialized prior to removing the site. Unless I missed something?

Yeah I got an email on 2nd Aug telling me Your Better Experience Is Here... and lower down saying starting today the Ride app and ANGi are no longer supported. Even that email got me irritated in that marketting shite messaging: "Great News- killing an app to make your experience better".

In these bad days for bike biz I'm noticing a lot less happy banter news from Spesh, more abrupt, cutting back, decisions.

well as far as I can tell all of the same info is shown in the app (Specialized app on a mobile device), but just annoying that they have removed the website

Yes I forgot about the Ride app. I haven't used it for a long time, but like you I've just tried to sign in but it just error's out. So presumably the Ride app was linked to the website and they've both been removed. As I have said, the data is still there in the Specialized app, but just annoying that there is no longer a web version (1st world problem ...)

A simple google search resulted in "The ride.specialized portal and legacy Ride app ecosystem have been transitioned into the unified Specialized App." You can't expect them to pay to maintain a legacy site that nobody uses. It's like going to the grocery store looking for a favorite childhood snack you haven't thought about in years and discover no one has even heard of it.

It's annoying that Specialized have done this. I use the app all the time to record my rides but do like to analyse, and archive, some of the data later on the computer.
As a workaround I'm now exporting the files to '.fit' files and reading those on the laptop using GPXsee which is free and works on Linux, Windows and Macs.

That's one of good reasons to use Strava. I have all my rides since 2013 there. Some of them were recorded using Endomondo and transferred to Strava later. Some other were recorded using the Strava app. Others were recorded using BLEvo, an app for older Specialized e-bikes. A few came from Specialized Mission Control. Since 2021, I'm recording all my rides using Wahoo cycling computers (connected to my Specialized e-bikes). All the data are on Strava now.

Yes, Strava is only interested with the human effort (and skips any e-bike data). For demanding rides, I enter the assistance level and even the amount of Wh from the batteries in the Notes. It is for the future reference. I also keep my Maintenance Log for all e-bikes I've owned on Strava.

I don't expect Strava be closed anytime soon. The Specialized Ride capability was never of my interest. I used Mission Control and now I use the Specialized App solely for the purposes of the motor tuning (and changing the way Range Extenders are used on my Vado SL).
