Reliability Survey

After the failure of the Ancheer ebike that was tested last year, I've become more and more interested in the reliability of different ebike brands and components. Therefore, I've created a reliability survey to collect data directly from owners. Once enough responses are collected, the results will be shared in a report on the EBR forums. This report will include a brand reliability ranking. More questions will be added in the future to include a component reliability ranking (Bosch vs. Bafang vs. Brose for example). Please take the survey here, your response is greatly appreciated:

If you have suggestions for additional questions, or changes, please let me know!

Just wanted to bump this back up to the top to keep the survey's rolling in. Once I get another dozen or so, I can provide the current reliability leader...

Thanks!

Update: I have enough surveys to make some generalizations but not enough to really publish the results. Send this link to your friends, more surveys are needed!

Ebike Reliability Survey

So far, Specialized is looking like the least reliable...which is surprising. They are significantly lower than the other brands. More data is clearly needed! Thanks everyone who has taken the survey so far!

I think you should have asked if the problem was solved by the manufacturer under warranty and how long it took. If a problem is solved quickly by the manufacturer it may negate some problems. You also need to know how many bikes were sold by each brand to determine a percentage of bikes with problems.

Also, how many forums are you posting this survey on?

Mike, I agree that a quick repair or part replacement by the manufacturer or dealer is helpful and my calculations do use the dealer support and manufacturer service from the survey. However, the largest emphasis is placed on the number of failures vs. the number of miles. The severity of the failure is also taken into account, where a motor or battery failure is weighted much heavier than say a brake light switch.

With your question, I realized that I had neglected to post to Reddit and Endless Sphere. I've now done so. If you have other forums you would suggest, please do so.

Thank you!
Jason

After several hundred surveys, Specialized is still near the bottom of the ranking, which still surprises me. Juiced is about mid pack and the leaders are not too surprising: Riese and Muller, Pedego, and Wattwagons! I'd like to get at least a thousand surveys before I publish an official list with a Electric Bike Test Lab calculated average failures per mile, which takes the number of miles, number of failures, failure severity, and manufacturer support all into account. Keep the surveys coming!

It’s been a while since this was posted. Are there results available?
