Recommendations on rear mounted bike rack?

I bought a platinum a month ago and so far have found the bike to be a lot of fun. Heavy as hell but fun. I wanted a commuter bike that was fast enough to allow me to go home over lunch without being drench from the workout by the time I get back.

I have fenders and lights but was hoping to add a decent rack and panniers. I live near Seattle so getting something that won't rust and is compatible with a most panniers. If you have any input on what would work well for either item or if I need to fork over the dough and buy the stromer brand I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Chris

I just got the city kit when I bought my platinum. It's way too much money but it seemed easier!

The city kit is like $400, so that is probably overkill since you already have fenders and lights.

I use a Blackburn Interlock rack so I can lock my bags to my bike but any of the new Blackburn racks like the Outpost or Central fit the same. They come with crazy long stays so the rack will fit on just about any bike. The height is also adjustable so mine sits right above the rear wheel and doesn't have a huge gap like you get with most rear racks.

Thanks. Gus is there an adapter for the blackburn that allows a connection to the center of the frame vs the traditional attachments on the outer edge of the frame?

I'd agree with Gus on that. If you already have most of it, it would seem a waste. It is good quality however and it fits perfectly with my bike
The city kit is the cherry on top if you get a Stromer! I just wish it wasn't so expensive because it looks the best by far compared to anything aftermarket.

The Blackburn racks require braze-on-like attachment points, so something like this is necessary:

With the seat post rack mounts, you can mount just about any rack to your Stromer as long as it has long stays. If you are looking for a rack that doesn't use stays but instead attaches to center crossmember across the seat stays, I know Topeak racks and the Axiom Streamliner (I have this rack) have that option.

I have several different racks and was able to fit all of them on the Stromer with the exception of a Planet bike one because the stays were too short. I have fit all of the following racks on a Stromer but prefer the Blackburn Interlock, again just because I can lock my bags to the bike.

These all fit for me:
