Hi,
Last year, i bought a DYAD, Banana Boss, Ebike. Bafang 500W motor, 48V, 17.5 aH battery
I bought the bike in August 2020, rode it through winter, and by March 2021, my rear sprocket was rocking back and forth badly. I brought it to the store and they replaced the sprocket (hub).
Now, it's October 2021, winter hasn't even started, and i see the "new" hub is starting to rock just a bit. I am sure by March 2022, i will need a new one again.
Does this sound normal, for an ebike?
I'm 60 and have been riding my regular bikes for many years in all seasons and i never had to replace a hub twice in one year. Are ebikes "cheaper" somehow?
Mind you, i like the design of my ebike, but the parts they use seem like pure crap. And the bike is from Taiwan, and sold in my city by a Chinese guy who seems to be in charge of all the stores in my "area"
I brought my bike to DYAD for repairs because the electrical system stopped working on me, while on the road. Thankfully, i was not far from the store, when the repair guy (a French guy from France) did the repairs, he broke the plastic part where the cables connect to the battery, and he denied doing it, and the store owner sided with his guy. I will need to buy that piece now that holds the battery in place - he broke off the part where the prongs connect on the battery when it fits into the holder. Now two prongs are exposed to the elements because he broke off half of the piece that protects the prongs. I will have to make something to cover it.
I'm not to pleased and don't really want them servicing my ebike any more.
So, anyway, are ebike rear sprockets more susceptible to wear and need to be changed once per year?
Or should i ask another store to sell me a better quality sprocket?
The ebike does get used daily to go distances of at least 12 Km (about 7.5 miles).
Thanks.
