My new ebike arrived with shipping damage including a bent rear rack with paint flaking off of it. I don't have the tools or facilities to bend it back, and if I did the paint would flake off even more.
The vendor has given me a partial refund on the bike to cover the cost of repairs (there were other things damaged as well) so I'm shopping for a new rear rack. The trouble is, the existing rack is custom and the bike frame doesn't have the usual places to connect a rack. For example, the "triangle" frame below the seat (where the rear fender is attached) doesn't have holes to attach the front two "arms" on racks that don't connect to the seat post. I do have drills, if drilling holes in the frame is an option.
Here's a diagram of the rack and where it connects to the frame. Is a rack that connects to the seat post my only option? I'm looking for the following:
- compatible with side panniers, prevents bags from tangling in spokes
- has a plate on the back to mount my rear light
- maximum load at least 50 lb, preferably up to 100 lb
- compatible with disc brakes
- costs less than $75 USD
