My new Sduro Trekking SL is running nicely and the weather is finally being more reasonable. From my house I ride down a road which is a "very" steep hill. Its about 300 yards and steep enough to require serious 4x4 in winter and very difficult to walk up. Riding down it on the bikes is pretty easy of course but I have to have the Tektro hydraulic disk brakes on pretty well all the way down. Then I have about a mile and a half of secondary road down to the New River which is also fairly steep and windy, once again brakes dragging all the way.
Thankfully the bike enables me to get up OK in "high" with the Yamaha and almost the lowest gear of all. However the brakes rattle on the way down. Clearly they are applied cold but it bothers me that they rattle and vibrate so much. Using the brakes later on the flat, they are smooth and quiet and inspire confidence.
Should I be worried? Should I look for a different grade of brake pad? Anyone else have this problem?
