Raleigh Velo Trail e-bike

I wonder whether there are any users of this bike out there? I bought mine in 2014 but three years later the battery seems to be failing (only two greens) and the LED display seems to be knackered.

I have volt-tested the display and find that there are 2.43 volts into the circuit board. None of the lights light up, and it is therefor impossible to engage the motor. If the LED display is u/s a new one costs £105!! But Raleigh tell me that if I buy one and the fault is not there I cannot return it.

Of the two agents one tells me that "They would not know where to start", and the other "it is not worth repairing - buy a new one."...........i.e. can't be bothered.

A new battery costs £380! I wonder whether it is feasible to re-circuit the wiring directly from the battery to the motor and to engage the top assistance permanently? I never use the lower assistances anyway. I am loath to bin a perfectly good bike, mechanically, but I could buy a new one for £600.

@sujabi, been looking over some of your posts; sorry that no one had an answer for you. First, those LED displays are kinda like the buttons on a microwave and prone to failure; they are just a quickie check system and the display on the throttle will be more reliable since it comes via the controller. You may want to consider looking for someone to rebuild your battery pack, it might be a little less expensive.

Other options are comparable batteries sourced directly from China via Alibaba.com, etc. You might be looking a price closer to $300 US dollars which is fair.
I don't recommend wiring the battery straight to the motor. If what you're saying is to bypass the throttle & controller, you could permanently damage the motor and the bike would be on at 100% level the moment you turn it on. Not a safe idea!

Thank you Ann - I had a reply returned "undeliverable" ??? So here goes again. I am very grateful for your advice and will follow it up now. I have had a bad experience with Raleigh as the agents are not interested in repairing, or even giving useful advice other tha just to throw the bike away! Head Office is similarly no help.
