RAD POWER RAD CITY 3 OWNER MANUAL

Hello everyone. I just recently rcvd my City 3 Step Thru and completed my battery balancing sequence. I'm hoping someone here has the same bike and owners manual. I've read it over and over to familiarize myself with it as I'm new to all of this.

My issue is:
On page twenty of the owners manual under "when the battery is removed" it states- DO Not operate the bike with the electrical system in the on position, or damage to the electrical system may occur. Seems rather difficult to operate the bike without the system in the on position,
Can someone explain what they are referring to as I can't decipher what it is they're saying?

Myself, I wouldn't put too much weight on a comment like that. If I had an overwhelming concern, I'd ask RAD.

Page 21 of my manual.

It is saying not to operate the bike with the electrical system in the on position when the battery is removed.

I do not see how you can turn the bike on once the battery is removed. Maybe there ia a capacitor (or more) that can retain a charge for a while after the bike us turned off. Maybe it can damage something if that is the only power to the system.

Nice to hear that someone does read the manual. This probably has to do with the bike having a direct drive motor that generate voltages when the wheel turns. Rad uses that for regen braking and also to recharge the battery in certain modes, when you choose?

I suppose, RAD had some occasions where the worst case happened and some City bikes fried when owners rode around without battery. Hence the warning.
