Rad Power Bikes In trouble?

Oh, well, four! That makes all the difference! NOT.

And you couldn't find reports on other bikes so there haven’t been any problems with them. I have this great bridge I can sell you real cheap.

What do we know about just the Rad battery fires? Were they OEM batteries with no damage, being properly maintained and charged?

TT
Battery fires are like plane crashes, if it happens even once there is a potentially serious problem. Now it's happened four times that we know about, vs none that we know about among rivals who collectively ship as many or more bikes.

I'm not a judge convicting Rad - though there are a couple of lawsuits against Rad over battery fires. I'm just making a call based on the limited sample available. You want to discount the available evidence, 🤷‍♂️

Your arguments are specious. They're anecdotal and are completely irrelevant statistically. And you don't even know what caused the fires. Not to mention that your inability to turn up stories about battery fires with other brands doesn't come anywhere near meaning they haven't happened.

Lol and your rebuttal is denial rather than finding evidence of fires at other brands.

So which Rad battery are we talking about? The older external mount ones or the newer ones mounted in the frame?

I think we should include the potential for "vaping" incidents, cell phones that have exploded, etc. in this conversation? In case you haven't noticed, it's not about what the battery is installed in or who built/assembled it, it's about the battery technology!!!!

The battery technology AND ignorant users......

Get over trying to pin this on one bike manf. You're going to come off like an really uninformed person screaming "the sky is falling" every time!

And who built it decides which technology is used.

Still waiting for actual evidence of fires at other brands.

More research required on your part methinks....

I honestly don't think Rad batteries have anything to do with the restructuring. One: shareholders. They want their money at all cost. Two: the rim strip nightmare. If anyone would have had a battery fire it would have been me! Leaving it on the charger, riding in downpours, dropping it during removal and other newbie faults. Rad might be cheap but they're far from generic China knock-off junk.

It seems there is, slowly but surely, less and less ebike content here on this site, being displaced with these bullshit catfights.
We'll get more content as the State Farm lawsuit against Rad proceeds 😅

We've already learned Rad uses Fritz Jou Manufacturing, an OEM bike assembler, and TD HiTech Energy, a battery supplier.

You think you will get truthful content out of a lawsuit?

Don't be 'bustin our chops. You're as big a part of that as any of us.....

One of my favourite quotes which I've remembered for almost half a century:

"Speech is civilization itself. The word, even the most contradictory word, preserves contact - it is silence which isolates.“

Although I should add, most lawsuits get settled privately so no truth gets publicized. Hard to say if that will happen here but the scope of the lawsuit has increased over time. I really hope it gets settled publicly to shed more light on what went wrong.

Maybe since State Farm has millions of policyholders at risk, they want a systemic solution that requires going public but I don't know.

This will be interesting to watch and learn more about the safety of these batteries. The more I learn about ebike fires, the less desire I have to get a Tesla. So much energy in those batteries. I even get nervous having two ebike batteries in my house at times. I suppose one option would be to park outside the garage
