Quick-E+

. They found the RideControl app often disconnected from the Bluetooth. Which is not actually my experience generally.

I do notice that when using the RideControl app, the speedo does drop out often, maybe for a second or two. It happens every time.

If that’s the case, it’s probably the app not the bikespeed

@Alan111S - Here is a photo of my set up with the BarFly & the QuadLock. The only thing that would make it better is if one of them would work from the right side of the stem. As it is though I don't notice that my phone is much off center once it is on the QuadLock - and I'm super particular to that kind of thing. Though the bonus is that it gives me room on the right to add a Wolf Tooth Handlebar Bag.

@Alan111S The adapter I used to connect the computer to the BarFly Mount is the KOM Cycling Garmin male adapter, found on amazon. Just trim the edges to fit between the raised portion of the computer back. I also moved the serial number sticker from the back of the computer to the front edge.
I don’t think it makes a difference but the specific Barfly mount I used was the BarFly 4 Max Out Front Mount. I installed the Garmin base sideways so it made more sense with the way the KOM adapter was designed to sit. The cables of the computer sit nicely around the mount.
I can get more photos if you need of specific portions.

I picked up my new Quick E+ today and am already very impressed with it. Just a quick adjustment with the saddle height and I was ready to go. No sign of any knee pain (especially at the top of the stroke) which was a bit of a concern. I hope that gradually building up my fitness will make things even more enjoyable - I am so out of shape. I had the MIK rack fitted but am unsure whether to buy MIK bags or just use my old Topeak gear. I shall personalize the bike (grips, pedals and seat) as and when funds allow. Security-wise I've invested in a Kryptonite Messenger Plus with an additional cable for the front wheel. More to come as I get to use the bike. Bye for now from a very pleased new owner

I use my bike traveling to work, so needed a bag solution that utilized the oem mik ready rack found on the explore e. I didn’t want panniers and was able to find a basil mik ready bag, just not in aus.

I Just needed an adapter mik plate and the bag came ready with the right connectors.
I’m pretty unimpressed that giant don’t have a ready made solution (a rack bag for example) for the mik system, that they put on as standard equipment.
For anyone interested, I got the adapter plate and bag from Holland bike shop, basil mik sports bag. From memory $106 euro including shipping to Australia.3160CB43-5F38-4D4A-B05C-4E39A434F760.jpeg39622BEB-FD5A-40B9-855D-24D5FFF3F462.jpeg91373D25-A82D-4CD6-91A0-0C0B9E04134A.jpeg

@Piccoloman - it looks like your rack is one that is MIK compatible from the start. It appears to have the MIK deck bolted onto the original rack. The bag, if it has the metal base, should have clipped directly onto your rack.

I'm curious as your reasoning to put the luggage adapter on the top of the rack? I've been trying online to find a photo of the bottom of the basil bags - to figure out whether or not they have the MIK adapter plate on them, but no luck so far.

I think the standard mik ready rear rack needs the luggage adapter to work. You need to get the right bag though with the base.

Interesting... Thank you so much for taking a photo! So that won't snap directly on to the top of your rack without the luggage adapter?

You know what. I’m not sure if i needed the luggage plate now. I looked up a YouTube video basil mik system how it works and now I’m not sure if I bought something I didn’t need.

I'm 99% sure that it will lock directly onto the flat part of your rack. I had added the Metro E rack to my bike and it has the same plate that I can see in your photos.
At least you will have the adapter if you want to attach your bags to non MIK racks.

No confusions. Either way its a great set up. I'm thinking now its time to get a trunk bag for the days when my commute doesn't needs as much storage space! Your photo of the bag bottom solidified my decision. Time to go shopping!

Since we're talking luggage and racks, thought I'd post a few pics of the Ortliebs I got with the Mik rack. It's Autumn now in Australia and I'm glad of the reflective material. I bought two but am just showing you one as it's easier to take a shot round the back.

Hi all.

I own a 2018 Quick E+, and love it. Fantastic, robust bike. I ride 15km nearly every day, sometimes 30km, and after 15 months I have had no issues till last week. Plug the battery in, and it would power on. Press and hold the power button, it would power off but immediately come back on again by itself. After reading that others have experienced the same issue I was reassured, and yes around 3 days later all as it should be. I did contact my lbs and they informed Giant UK, so I'm waiting for them to make contact. *Update, I spoke to Giant UK tech and he said, water has made its way in and is causing a short. He said drop it into any Giant bs and they will be happy to replace battery parts etc under warranty. So a big thumbs up to Giant! 2. I've always used Ortlib panniers (red full size) on my previous commuters, and they are bulletproof. Heavy rain everything stays bone dry. Anyway, I was disappointed with the integrated rack system on the bike. I had to purchase a smaller set. It works fine (see photo), but I had to remove the other pannier, as it was rubbing and wearing the cable housing. Giant rep told me today that the MIK rack system is not compatible with my bike, only 2019. *Bummer

you can get a MIK compatible deck with Giants Metro E rack that is made for the earlier Quick E bikes. The one that is compatible with the 2019 is just a flat deck bolt on but the Metro E is an entire rack replacement. It’s a really great rack. It gives more height too so you can use full size panniers too.

Ready for a dumb question? My new Quick E.....it came with a bagful of goodies like an Owners Manual, charger and wall socket lead - but also a small bag with a bar mount bracket and a short cable with a micro USB at each end. Now I guess the cable is to facilitate charging of a phone but what specific mount am I meant to use with the bracket? I should have asked while in the shop, but with all the excitement....
Any thoughts?
