Query Regarding Selle Bike Seats

I need a better bike seat. The Selle brand looks quite good. My sit bones are average for a largish but fairly lean human of 6' 2" construction but I want a longer saddle. I tend to shift my position forward or back depending on how I use my GP 5 grips. I keep my horns upright and when my wrists and elbows start to complain I ride more upright for a bit using the top of the horns. So since I can't find fore and aft measurements for these saddles I was wondering if anyone can help me out here. Thank you in advance. 👍 :)

The Selle Royal Gel saddles are very nice and come in a variety of configurations. Fore/Aft is about 80mm. I love them.
For the money I like the BikeSmart Poshterior. But you need to spend $49 to get free shipping. Or you can get one on Mike's Bikes and add some other accessories such as tubes to hit the $49 mark. I installed one this week on a Public Bike I made into a mid-drive.

Another guy this week was stooping with a low flat bar with horns. I swapped out the bar and made it higher with a better wrist position and sent him away to get a Poshterior with the prostate cut-out and springs.

I have the Selle Royal Drifter Strengtex on order, get it in a couple weeks.
I have a seat like the Drifter on my bike now but it's 25 or so years old and it's springs are starting to creak and make other noises.
I have it combined with a thudbuster ST and its a comfy ride, so I'm looking forward on getting the Drifter seat.

Whew ... this is hard work. Spent the last couple hours looking at saddles. Amazon has some Selle saddles I might want but at seriously inflated prices. Found this on Modern Bike's site and I did all 50 pages of their offerings. Nearly every recognizable saddle name was sold out. This one looks like a knock off of the Selle Rispiro moderate seats and it's not much $ to risk. I'll report once I try it out.

Most selling on Amazon won't give the dimensions of the saddle. A couple do. Modern bike gives the dimensions of all their saddles.

Newest seat. We’ll see...

$39. BikeSmart. Nice firm gel. Springy rails. I have spent over $100 on one Selle Saddle.

Are you talking about Selle Royal, Selle Italia or Selle Anatomica? Selle means saddle and I am sure there are more brands that begin with the word Selle beside the three I know about. FYI I have ridden three Selle Royals and sold them, one Selle Italia and sold it, and own three Selle Anatomicas which are heads and shoulders go to saddle for long rides. For me they are the best of the bunch. I am 6'1" and not so lean at 208 lbs. The H2 is the one for me. I have two leather ones and a rubber one for winter riding in the moist Pacific Northwest.

I bought a selle royale respiro seat based on recommendation of another site member. It did have dimensions on the modernbike site: the one I bought is pretty wide. It had a useful groove down the middle to clear the nerve. I can't measure the length because the burglar hauled it off 9/20.
I found it too hard for my 70 year old hips. I lost all the fat under there about age 63. I'm back to the meagher saddle with springs I bought a $15 salvation bike for.
The selle I bought was more expensive than knock-offs because it was manufactured in a country that doesn't promote serfdom of minorities. Worth it to me.

Hi there,
I use a Brooks Flyer. The rails aren't as long as many but there are various set back posts if you need a lot of rearward travel. My wife uses also uses a Flyer but it is the short version and, more importantly, it is the pre-softened leather! I wish I had seen one before I broke mine in. You might give the pre-softened Flyer a look. I think they make a version that is also sprung in the front. Thanks, Alvin

When selling kid's bikes we would joke: Made by Children for Children. The Selle "made in Italy" is nice.

ME makes all the difference. You left that part out. The way you stated it denigrates the choices of other people. Adding "for me" makes it clear that it is your choice and lets others make theirs without comment or implication.

I don't agree with many of the choices others on this forum make but I do try to respect and understand them. Iknow...it is not always easy. To each their own.

It is way too much money, but it is a lux stylish saddle made in Italy. It even looks fast. Remember the $350,000 handbag? I often do the Selle Royal Gel Freetime saddle. It is about $40 and is plush at the privateer's booty but narrow enough to pedal up front.

That's probably about what I should be riding but I'm far to vain. 🤣
