PowerFly 5 - Questions

Next week I will be visiting LBS(s) to see if I can find a PF5 to take for a test ride. I am looking for a versitile bike for rural riding, gravel logging roads, a bit of trail and running errands around town instead of a 2nd vehicle.

A couple of questions:

1. If you have installed a rear rack how has it worked out?
2. I think this bike is capable of handling plus tires/wheels. Has anyone given that a try?

Thanks in advance

My wife just got the womens powerfly 5. We are waiting for the seat collar needed to attach the rack but should have it this week. We actually mounted less aggressive tires but it looks tike you could go a bit wider but not sure.

Hers is a small and has 27.5 wheels. Looks like 29’s would be a tight fit.

I bought a 2019 Powerfly FS5 last spring. Haven't tried a rear rack since I have the FS version.

Just out of curiosity, since when I was test riding eMtn bikes last Spring a lot of them had fat tires, I asked Trek support about swapping in 2.80" tires and they said I would need to use a 35mm wheelset and recommended Kovee Pro 30's from Bontrager. Too expensive an upgrade when I'm not sure I'd even like or need the fatter tires. I didn't like the plus tires during the test rides, at least not on the pavement test rides. Maybe on snow or single track I might find them helpful. But for now the 27.5 x 2.30 are working Ok for me.
