Possible Allant+ 9.9S upgrades...pending....

What else does EMTB mode do besides letting you turn the light off?
The two functions have nothing to do with one another, totally separate settings. EMTB stands for E Mountain Bike and basically is a variable assist level that uses an algorithm to determine the best maximum assist level based on cadence, torque, ascent/descent and speed. It gives the avid mountain biker one less switch/setting to think about during a ride. It chooses assist from tour almost to turbo. It was originally available only on CX bikes and replaces the sport setting. I prefer having the sport assist as a choice, especially with the HS motor as it gives me better control over my expenditure of electrons.

It’s not EMTB mode that allows you to turn lights on/off. It’s the Bosch update.
It also allowed my Allant +7 to substitute EMTB for the Sport mode. EMTB mode (and the jump from 75nm torque to 85nm) allows the bike to act like it has an automatic transmission in EMTB alone. Just a bit more pressure on the pedals really jacks the speed/climbing ability up. It’s quite an impressive Improvement IMO. I haven't tried it enough to see how it affects my battery life.
