Phone Charging USB SDURO Trecking with Yamaha

Has anyone successfully used the mini USB on the control pad for phone charging? I got a cable that fits but doesn't seem to charge the phone. Not sure how to test connections. Thanks in advance.

What kind of phone? Have read that iPhones might be a problem to charge. Check the USB settings. If I understood correct, you can use the USB port either as a comms port or for Power.

Your reply suggests that there is a way to change USB settings? any chance you can help me understand how to do that? Sounds promising however my phone is the dreaded iPhone so I may have run out of apple-luck.
