Pedego City Commuter or Alternative

I know it's not easy! I've attempted a regular build before, and every time I end up taking it into the shop because it just doesn't work as smooth as it should.
Anyway good for you man! Have fun on your new commute!

Cheers,

From what I've read it is a big bike, and someone 5'7 may be a little uncomfortable getting started. This info comes from a review done by a purchaser over on the endless-sphere site. Fotunately, in this case, I am about 6', so it would probably work for me. It is more a question of style, and do I want the look that the City Commuter offers.

Hi there. I just purchased a white 48 volt 2014 Pedego City Commuter Step-through. I am a 5'6" 200 plus lb female who hasn't been on a bike in over 15 years. My neighborhood is entirely up and down hill. Virtually no flat spots. I've had my bike two weeks and I just love it. I especially enjoy zipping up the hills using pedal assist. I will admit the bike felt a little big at first but I'm getting used to it. Little things like remembering to tilt the bike a little to step through, hold the rear brake while dismounting so she doesn't roll on me and adjusting the handlebars forward have helped me a lot. I did test drive an interceptor and a few other bikes before making my decision on this one but I didn't like the beach cruiser setup. The positioning on the city commuter was much more comfortable.

I decided on the Izip Dash but use the same technique that you do. Once I got that down, my bike fit perfect. I would up swapping the pedals and the seat, but those are personal things. Enjoy your new ride. It is such a good looking well put together bike and the white one is really nice.

I've put 850 miles on my City Commuter, and am still loving it. I had my sister out from California last week, and that plus some rainy weather prevented me from riding the WHOLE WEEK and it made me very grumpy. Fortunately, the weather looks good for this week. If I can ride 4 days, I'll put it over the 1,000 mile mark!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience here Dawn! I'm glad the bike is working out well for you :)

HI Court, You mentioned having a Timbuktu Messenger Bag. I have one as well that carries my 15" Mac Book Pro plus office files for commuting. I have used it in the past with a couple of Wald metal baskets attached to the rear rack of my Surly touring bike. I now use an ebike for commuting and the metal baskets tend to scratch up the aluminum on my Pedego City Commuter and rattle a bit. Do you ever just carry your Timbuktu bag in a pannier? Do you think that would work with the Bike Smart Double Wide? I prefer carrying things on the bike instead of on my back.
