I hate to do this, but I'm paralyzed by indecision. I've been trying to decide which ebike to get for over a year now. And I think I've finally narrowed it down to 2 (maybe 3) but I need some help.
I live in MA, USA, so choices for shops carrying more bargain-priced bikes are few and far between - my budget is more $1500-$2000 anyway, so big names like Specialized and Trek are probably out. I'm a heavier rider (~275#) so that's a factor. I will also possibly be pulling a Weehoo trailer with a 6 year old in it, on occasion, but if/when I do we won't be hitting any extreme hills.
The point of getting an ebike is to help with hills, and just get me out on the bike more often for both recreation and exercise - I avoid it because I have hills in every direction from my house and I don't want to often deal with carting my bike elsewhere in order to ride it.
I like the RadRover, but I'm concerned that given the "it's not really a 750W motor" issue could make hills troublesome giving my size. I also don't really need a fat tire bike as I'll mostly be on pavement or groomed trails.
Also, a bike that's a Class 2 would be best since I don't want to have to avoid bike paths (though all the legal issues are still fairly unresolved in MA as I understand it).
I recently started looking at both Rize and Biktrix.
Looks like I can pre-order a Juggernaut Hub Duo with just a single battery (for now) for $1899. - Wouldn't ship until April, but I can live with that.
Rize has some stock problems too, but I could get a Rize X for $1999. I read a few threads here the last few days indicating Rize's support can be hit or miss?
I feel like I've narrowed it down to the RadRover ($1599) or the Juggernaut Hub Duo ($1899). So the question is, is the equip that the Juggernaut comes with really worth the $300 extra (which is $400 more than I planned on spending when I started this quest)?
I know that repair and upgrade parts are pretty readily available for the Rad, and I could likely upgrade it to the "real" 750Watt for $250 or so, but then I'm already at the price of the Juggernaut. And I know some other larger riders have said the Rad's power is plenty for them to get up hills. Are parts relatively easy to get for Biktrix? How's their support vs Rad (keeping in mind I'm not local to either of them).
Bonus questions: Should I really reconsider the Rize X? or even the Rize? Maybe the 500Watt would be good enough? Is there some other brand I should be looking at? I considered Himiway for a while but some things I've read here have removed it from my list.
Thanks,
Simon
